Samsung today announce the latest handset to their camera phone range, the Samsung G800. The Samsung SGH-G800 is the first camera phone to support a 3x optical zoom lens. With this extraordinary optical power, together with a 5.0 megapixel sensor, as well as its advanced camera features such as the auto-focus and the xenon flash, digital image stabilization, red eye reduction mode and face detection system, the Samsung G800 is going to be a one of a kind mobile phone, or should I say digital media device!
The Samsung G800 is packed with other impressive features. As well as being a unique camera phone, the SGH-G800 features HSDPA mobile broad band speeds, Bluetooth 2.0 support and a 262K QVGA colour screen. The Samsung G800 isn’t the smallest handset around, measuring up at 101mm x 51mm x 19mm (4.0" x 2.0" x .7"), but with an impressive amount of features and its amazing camera capabilities, I don’t think you will be complaining too much about the size.
The G800 is held horizontally when taking photos so that its large QVGA display is viewed in landscape format. Other features include PictBridge and USB 2.0, in addition to a full HTML browser (NetFront) and a microSD memory card expansion slot.
The official UK release has not been confirmed, but the handset will be released in Europe later this year.
