The Samsung Galaxy Xcover is now coming to the UK. It was first thought that the new Samsu ng 'rugged' Smartphone would not be announced for the UK market, but as well as Germany; the UK will be seeing the Samsung Galaxy Xcover in the coming months.
Samsung Announced the new device on Wednesday and the Samsung Galaxy Xcover will be the first 'rugged' Android Smartphone, which will also feature gingerbread. It's bound to be popular here in the UK. I think a decent rugged type Smartphone is definitely lacking in today's market. Another piece of good news is that the phone is certified by IP67 standard, which means it's protected against dust, accidental drops, and up to one meter of water, for up to 30 minutes. But it doesn't stop there. It also comes with a scratch-proof reinforced screen, which is 'four to five times stronger' than a regular Smartphone touchscreen, as promised by Samsung.
So what else does the Samsung Galaxy Xcover have to offer? Well it features an impressive 3.65-inch HVGA touchscreen, with the TouchWiz UI, and Samsung Social Hub. It's powered by an 800MHz single-core chipset, and a 3.2 megapixel rear-facing camera with LED flash, GPS, HSDPA, WiFi, up to 32GB of expandable memory, and of course that rugged look!
Samsung UK made the following statement:
"We've designed the Samsung Galaxy Xcover especially for those consumers who need all the functionalities of a Smartphone that can stand up to demanding lifestyles. By combining the best of our social features together with a strong, airtight chassis makes this Smartphone resistant to dust and water damage without compromising on the design."
There isn't any information on any official release dates, but it looks like it will be hitting the UK later this year. As always, we'll keep you updated.
