Sony have confirmed that the Sony S1 and S2 will be released in the UK this September.
Our friends at Engadget manage to get their hands on a private note sent from Sony's marketing group. They have confirmed that the new Sony tablets will be available for pre-order in August, for a Septemeber release. The note also reveals that the Sony S1 and S2 will be available via UK department store John Lewis, and of course Sony Direct. There is still a third still-unconfirmed retailer to be stocking these tablets at launch, but there are no details on this retailer as of yet.
The specifications and features for the Sony S2 and S1 still remain thin on the ground. From the details we already have, we know that the Sony S1 will feature a 9.4-inch screen within its unique 'wrap' casing. Also, the S1, otherwise known as the Sony Style, will boost Nvidia’s 1GHz Tegra 2 chipset, dual cameras, Android 3.0 - otherwise known as Honeycomb, wireless DLNA technology, with both HSDPA and WiFi connectivity.
The Sony S2 will rock an odd 'clamshell' form factor, with two 5.5-inch (1024 x 480 touchscreens). Just like the Sony S1, the S2 will also feature a dual-core processor and Honeycomb OS. The Sony S1 is expected to retail at around £590 SIM free, with the pricing for the S2 is still to be confirmed.
