It looks Mozilla have now got plans to develop their very own Smartphone operating system. Reports from Pocket-lint suggest that the new OS will have a feature rich HTML5-based mobile phone experience, which seems to be following down the same route as Google Chrome.
Details for the new operating systems are very thin on the ground. We don't have any more information about any release dates or any of the main features that will be available in the OS. It has been suggested that the OS will use Android for booting up the operating system. Again, the details on this are very vague, so this all could change in the coming months.
The idea behind the OS is quite straight forward; it will be very similar to ChromeOS, as in it will be a web-based HTML5 platform. It's really gonna have to be something special to compete with the already feature rich mobile phone operating systems out there. I must say that it sounds very interesting, and I'm looking forward to at least trying it out. Then again I said that same thing about Windows Phone 7 and that was a massive let down for me!
