Yes it's true. Retailers have completely slashed the prices on the HP TouchPad! You can pick up the HP TouchPad for as little as £89 for the 16GB. With the 32GB model at a very impressive £115! If I was you, I would get down to your local retailers today and grab yourself a bargain.
The offer was first announced and confirmed by Dixon's spokesman Mark Webb on their Twitter feed: 'Dixons.co.uk: HP Touchpad SALE, Limited Stock online from later today. £89 for the 16GB and £115 for the 32GB.'
The word must have spread fast because it looks like online stock has already completely gone, but it's always a good idea to check just in case more stock appears. There is stock available in selected stores, so all is not lost if you head down to your local Dixon's, Curry's or PC World store. Just as long as it's not a store in a popular area you should be ok, but in any case it's always best to call the store ahead of time to check stock. That way you can save on the wasted time and petrol on going down to the store and being disappointed.

I think it's pretty clear now why the discount price drops have started. But for those of you that aren't aware, HP have pulled out of both webOS and the TouchPad, as well as desktop PCs to concentrate more on software, a bit like IBM did a number of years ago.
This does mean that there is a big question mark over the kind of 'Support' you might be getting from HP for these devices, but I have to say that HP TouchPad is a very impressive piece of kit. The reviews for the device were very good, and at this price, you would be mad not to try and grab one, even if the support isn't that great.
