Finally the LG Optimus Pad is here, but has it been worth waiting for?
It was long rumoured that the Optimus Pad would pair it's 3D video capture with a similar glasses-free 3D steroscopic capacitive display much like LG's own fourthcoming Optimus 3D mobile phone. However, unfortunately this was not the case and instead comes equipped with a standard LCD capactitive touchscreen.
We were lucky enough to demo an Optimus Pad the other day and here's what we thought...
The Pad is powered by Android 3.0 honeycomb with a dual-core NVIDIA Tegra 2 processor so it's extremely quick and responsive. Although the Pad is 30g heavier than the iPad 2, it does feel right in the hand and quite comfortable. When you turn it over to the back you'll find not one but 2 5 megapixel cameras and LED flash. The 2 cameras are so you are able to take all those amazing pictures and videos all in 3D and upload them straigh to you 3D TV through HDMI connection.
The look and feel of this tablet is great with nice rounded edges and it's quite slim at just 13mm thick. I managed to have a play with the 3D video recording as i'm lucky enough to own a 3D TV. The whole process is simple. Just shoot, record and transfer. The quality of the 3D output looks great on TV and i was very surprised.
Overall this isn't a bad tablet, especially as it's LG's first. Lets hope it can compete with the rest.
